A rose deflowered by
scissors and high school poetry
is unreadily fucked
like a cliché, and shamelessly
plucked, for “love.”
The stem pricks, but not lustfully
like the nettle. The petal
unfolds coyly—not immodestly
like the pink lily. Why
steal the rose’s maiden virginity?
Damn you, all you, who
fucked the rose unceremoniously
