The Lost Generation

Do you understand the metaphoric phrase “lyte as a rock?”
I emerge from a generation that IS hip-hop.
From LL to NWA, Nelly to Soulja Boy.

Where did it all go wrong?
Lyrics used to mean more than just rhymes to a song.
Fuck the Police. U-N-I-T-Y. To Live & Die in L.A.

Allow me to re-introduce myself.
My name is hip-hop.
The lost generation. Generation X-tinct.

Flip that shit!
What are the origins of hip-hop?
Why does hip-hop exist?

We fell into a melodic lethargic abyss.
We listen, rather than assist.
Nobody ever wants to flip that shit. I mean, flip that script.
